The Propose

Story of two very good friends Anjali and Aaditya. They met four years ago and now its time Aaditya to make a decision, a decision that will change his life forever. But he is confused as to how he will declare his love for Anjali. Anjali being a very energetic and jolly kinda person, makes friend very easily and a very easy going person with not a lot of ambition in life. On the other hand, Aaditya was also a very nice and generous person and a bit simpler and quite than Anjali. Its Saturday night 7:00 PM, Aaditya and Anjali is sitting together for dinner when Anjali asked:
Anjali: Hey Aaditya, is something special today? If I remember, its not mine or your birthday today? Also none of our friends and if so also, then nobody apart from you is around? Whats the matter? Something personal, haaaan???
Aaditya: Hey hang on, hang on. I can’t answer so many questions in one shot. My memory is very terrible.
Anjali: Ok I just want to know whats special today?
Aaditya: Nothing special, can’t I call you for dinner just like that?
Anjali: Yes you can, but we used to go along with our group on weekends, and we used to have dinner or lunch together in office whenever our timings matches.
Aaditya: Oh… so you are feeling awkward along with me?
Anjali: Hey I didn’t say like that and please don’t start assuming things like that. You know I never ever feels like that.
Aaditya: Okay… I believe you J
Anjali: You are a moron.
Aaditya: Yes I know, and please don’t praise like that in public, I tries to keep my fame from common man. Ha ha ha.
Anjali: Very funny, and God gimme a break.
Aaditya: Ok now to be serious, I ….
Anjali: Serious and you? Are you kiddin and that too on a Saturday night. Ha ha ha.
Aaditya: See this is the problem with others also. What you think I always behave in a cool and idiotic manner? Can’t I be serious anytime?
Anjali: Hey Aadi, I was jus kiddin… Ok please tell me, I am listening.
Aaditya: Ok you were correct, I called you here to tell you something, but before I start, I want you not to interrupt in between and say only when I am finished. Promise???
Anjali: Ok baba promise, tell me soon, I am feeling worried…
Aaditya: It’s being almost four years that we know each other, we have share many things along this way. Don’t know about you, but I have enjoyed every moment of that whenever you are there around. Today I wanted to say that “I LOVE YOU” and I want you to be my life partner so that I can have you along with me to the entire life. I want you to hold my hand and guide me in this long journey towards achieving happiness for you. I don’t promise to you that I will have the Moon and Stars for you. I also don’t promise to get you all the worldly possessions, I also don’t promise that I will make all your wishes true, to give you everything that you want. But yes I can promise you one thing; I will love you to the most in this world. I will try to give you all the comforts in life to the best of my capabilities. I will keep you safe from this world. I can’t bring the sun and the stars for you, but I will promise to create a small universe around you. I will always try to keep you happy and all your sorrows and sadness needs to pass from me and I assure that not even a single parentage will come to you. If happiness comes to you, I will increase to 1000 folds and serve you to my entire life. I promise to give you a simple life full of love, emotions, faith, trust, responsibility and of course me. I will never ever make you feel lonely and lower than me. You will always go along or ahead of me and if any difficulty comes then I will be ahead of you to face it. I will give up my anger and greed for you. I will give up all the things that spoils me and our relationship as I want to live with you. I want to give you everything and I want………………. I want you………………
I love you Anjali…………………. I want you to be my partner for the rest of my life.
Aaditya took his hand in pocket and took out a small box and keeps that in the centre of the table between him and Anjali.
Aaditya: Now if you want to say something, then you can. But I only wanna say last thing. If you are happy with this relationship, then please allow me to open this box and give that ring pleasure to be decorated in your hand. If your answer is ‘NO’, then please say ‘NO’ I will leave the table. In this case, I am really sorry if I have hurt you and ready for any kind of punishment from you.
Anjali: (In a surprised look) Aaditya as you said that I need to be very frank, so being a good friend; I say I always liked you as a friend, but never thought like that. I knew that you always had a soft corner for me, but I never expected this from you.
Aaditya: Well I need your answer…
Anjali: Please let me finish. I know what you said just now, you will give me the same, but life is not what we expect to be and hence because of this twist and turn, it’s called life. I really love you Aaditya, but as a friend with whom I can share my feelings. I ……..
Aaditya: Thanks Anjali, I got my answer.
Anjali: No wait, pls……
Aaditya: (Keeps the box in pocket) I understand Anjali and I am really glad that you told your point of view as it’s not the decision for an individual. I hope that you will consider me as the same Aadi, what I was an hour before. Wish you a very best of luck and All the Best.
(Aaditya leaves the table and a drop from his eyes can’t stop and got into the plate. Anjali puts his head down and must have recalled what all happened. Its 8:30 PM now)

Well you might have thought initially that it must be a very happy ending story. I too thought the same, but it’s not only a story to make everyone happy in the end. Everyone needs to taste the bitterness of life and that will make them confident and give courage to fight with difficult times. Life is full of ups and downs and if the person finds the way to live upto the mark in downs, the he can fight with any situations in life. Take care………… Love is not easy

"Bhishma"

As soon as this name gets into the ears, we all remember ‘Mahabharata’ and the ‘Battle of Kurukshetra’. For some TV lovers, it reminds the serial Mahabharat by B. R. Films and Mukesh Khanna that portrayed the character of Bhishma. Well I m nothing to write about this great person, but many things can be learnt from him and the way he led his life. To say in a line, his life is a pure example of selflessness and love for her Motherland. As everyone knows about Mahabharata, but I will be pleased to write in brief. Most of the contents are taken from wikipedia and hence if something somewhere I am wrong, apologies in advance.
The Mahābhārata (Devanagari: महाभारत) is one of the two major Sanskrit epics of ancient India, the other being the Rāmāyaṇa. With more than 74,000 verses, long prose passages, and some 1.8 million words in total, it is the longest epic poem in the world.[1] Taken together with the Harivamsa, the Mahabharata has a total length of more than 90,000 verses.
It is of immense religious and philosophical importance in India and Nepal, a major text of Hinduism. Its discussion of human goals (artha or wealth, kama or pleasure, dharma or duty/harmony, and moksha or liberation) takes place within a long-standing mythological tradition, attempting to explain the relationship of the individual to society and the world (the nature of the 'Self') and the workings of karma.
Now the purpose of writing this is because I have watched both Ramayana and Mahabharata on television during my childhood and always fascinated by the legends, Gods and Goddesses, the battle fields, the war against evil and the various kinds of magic (Maya) they do. But Mahabharata remains always my favorites and specially Bhishma and Vasudev Krishna. Krishna being the incarnation of Lord Vishnu no doubt needs to be great, but his childhood shown in the serial was awesome. Also Bhishma, son of Ganga and Shantanu, given the vardaan from his Father that he will continue to live as long as he can and controls his death. But to my point, the God didn’t do justice to him and he just gave his life for his country and to the king of Hastinapur. If his life didn’t get that turn because of his step mother, then might be he wont be remembered as what we know him, or probably the greatest king ever the history would have seen. But I think its no point to discuss this as he was born only to give his everything to others and he did that in style and didn’t gave his life until he was sure to see that his motherland was in safe hands. Ok now just a brief description of his life so as to brush your memory. This is taken from Wikipedia.
Janamejaya's ancestor Shantanu, the king of Hastinapura has a short-lived marriage with the goddess Ganga and has a heroic son, Devavrata (later to be called Bhishma).He was trained by Parashurama. Devavrata, a young man already with a reputation as a fearsome warrior, is the heir apparent to the throne.
Many years later, when the king goes hunting, he spots Satyavati, the daughter of a fisherman, and wants to marry her. Eager to secure his daughter's and her children's future happiness, the fisherman refuses to consent to the marriage unless Shantanu promises to make the future son of Satyavati the king upon his death, instead of Devavrata. To solve the king's dilemma, Devavrata agrees to that. Finding that the fisherman, though convinced of Devavrata's commitment, is not sure about the prince's children honouring the promise, Devavrata makes a severe vow of lifelong celibacy to guarantee his father's promise. Hearing such a vow, unheard of amongst warriors, the heavens bestow Devavrata with the name Bhishma, 'the person of the terrible oath'. Shantanu has two sons by Satyavati, Chitrangat and Vichitravirya(Vichitraveer). Upon Shantanu's death, the young Chitrangat becomes king with his elder brother Bhishma at his side, serving as a guardian and regent of sorts to the young king. After his death Vichitravirya rules Hastinapura, again with Bhishma his elder brother at his side. To have his younger brother married, Bhishma goes to Kashi for Swayamwara to get the three beautiful daughters of Kashiraj. Their names are Amba, Ambika and Ambalika. Amba is in love with Salvaraj. Bhishma, on the way to Hastinapur; with the girls, had a combat with Salvaraj and other princes. He wins and goes to Hastinapura. Amba, tells about her love to Satyavati, Bhishma's step-mother. She allows her to go back to Salvaraj, who does not accept her; as it was against Kshatriya Dharma. Insulted Amba comes back to Hastinapura and asks Bhishma to marry her. Being vouched for celibacy, Bhishma rejects her, on which she curses him that she would be the cause of his Death. When King Shantanu is on his deathbed, his concern for his children and the stability of the kingdom delays his death. To ease the king's pains Bhishma promises to stay alive until the kingdom is safe and secure. Again, an awesome promise as all kingdoms is under constant threat. This promise was to cost him dearly, giving him a long life with constant tribulations and battles. Later, though seriously wounded, Bhishma could not give up his soul until the final battle resulted in the rule of the righteous Pandavas.
Why I have written this article is just to let you all know that we are very fortunate that we have born in a land where legends like Bhishma lived and gave an opportunity to take there example and live a life which may led you to the death bed in peace. He symbolizes courage, sacrifice, faith, responsibility, selflessness, and love to Motherland and to keep promise. There is no end to praise the way he lived and served his land and people, not even a single pleasure in life, first gave sacrifice for his father, then mother, then for his land, for himself. A motivational factor for everyone. Sometime I feel how can a person gives everything without thinking anything, as everyone is so selfish that they do everything keeping there benefit first. Today nobody practically cares for others and why for, everyone needs to grow and the way they do is to step over another, it’s a human tendency and nobody denies the fact. I feel this is the reason why you can’t find many Bhishma in today’s world and never can we find many. Hence to have this example we can try to live a life that atleast wont be on cost for another person happiness and it should serve the purpose of giving happiness to all you are responsible for.

Sometimes when i sit alone in my room

Sometimes when I sit alone in my room, all sorts of weird thoughts comes in my mind. Say for example I always think that is there any purpose for each one of us in this world? Have the Almighty just created us without any reason? Are we special? Etc etc. What is the purpose and motive in the life of each individual? All these questions feel sometime rubbish, sometime make you seriously think, but the fact is very few of them really understands the purpose for there life and hence we are referred to some as Great persons. I m no one to point anyone, but do we have sat for a while and realize the importance of our life. I am sure when the Almighty created each one of us, its not just that he wanted to, but for a purpose and you have a part of him in your body and that is your soul. The person can be good or bad, but truly I think the soul is always pure and it’s just the circumstances in the world that changes the mind and way of thinking towards other individuals. Hence it’s very important for each individual to respect himself/herself and that is the starting line for this long and unending life. Unending Life??? Sounds different, but it’s the way I think, life is not just till your heart beats, it’s after that also when you go to heaven. Someone might think that “Who knows and cares about Heaven or Hell?” but its your duties and the way you live in this world will decide, you really don’t have to bother as a person very spiritual but doesn’t have respect for individual does not deserve to be a part of heaven. Hence the first and the primary thing are to respect yourself and think that Almighty has created you and you are something special in your respect. The next thing is to explore you and get to know how we can make our life smooth without the cost of another. This is very important, you should not only think about yourself but also the one close to you and who cares about you. This means that you are not alone in any of your decision and once that happens then I can think, that person has not lived a life he/she to be proud of. To make my point clear, I am not saying that for example your parents want to be a doctor and you say, I want to become a model and you took this decision and went along. Well it’s your life, but to be an ideal son/daughter, friend, life partner, you need to gain the confidence, trust and faith of your near and dear ones. To be sure, if you do anything that hurts someone and if that is genuine, then in near future, you are not gonna get satisfied of what you get. This is a very heavy and harsh sentence, but that’s the reality. So whatever you do, think that you are not alone and take the responsibility. This is also one of the major factors of persons running from responsibility. Why people run from there responsibility? Its life and life demands you to take responsibility and if you fail to do so, then your life is not worth to live in this world. The best example I can give on this is parent and child relationship. Parents take care of there child and loves them till the end of there life, but when they grow up, there attitude towards there parents changes and they wanna get out of there life so as to be comfortable. May be they will be happy after moving out, but that comfort is from my point of view is no more than a hell. I really don’t like those people who contains such attitude towards there parents. If the readers of this note have understood something then the easiest way to make your life happy is to give happiness to your parents. Your life will be worth if you do only this thing. Another way to make you satisfied with your life is to help and care that actually needs. Being from India and seen such poverty and illiteracy, sometimes I feel that whatever I gained and achieved in life is not worth if I can’t make a life of one good. This can be achieved in two ways, either you can help financially or by your affection, but in both the cases, your heart and mind will be clear of any kind of selfish reasons.
Well I now close my write up, someone might think me as stupid, writing something that only looks good in papers, but when put in life book disturbs the cycle. But there are many things that we do and really don’t bother about the results; hence if we continue to do the same atleast we can be proud of ourselves. May the Almighty bless all and we all do something in life that when we are no more in this world, atleast one person will always remember us for there entire life and that is what we are here for.
